My specialist knowledge of cultural studies, pedagogy and creative discourses derives from my PhD, MA, M.Litt.,BA, while my knowledge of creative industries and social challenges stems from 20 years of practice as a creative practitioner, business consultant, entrepreneur and community advisor in transitioning cities in Europe and the UK. As a HE Leader, I have been successfully applying my academic knowledge and industrial experience to the development of Knowledge Exchange activities and protocols at four Universities in the UK (University of Edge Hill, University of East London, University of Hertfordshire, University of Plymouth), where I have led on the development of students' entrepreneurial and civic engagement, international partnerships and business outreach.
In my work I am committed to the enhancement of engaged citizenry and the expansion of creativity and socio-ecological awareness among students and partners. I have a strong strategic vision of learning/teaching and civic engagement underpinned by my personal perspective of the role of University in society, which has been shaped by my humanist background and my belief in equality, civic responsibility, collaboration, inclusion and the holistic human development.
I am a recipient of research grants from the AHRC, British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust, among others.
